Learning outcomes: 1) To understand the relationship between pain, perception and behaviour change. 2) An evidence-based understanding of what pain want from healthcare professionals. 3) To appreciate the gap between the complexity of the nervous system & the hunt for the "off switch". 4) To understand the need for Socratic questioning & guided discovery. 5) To apply educational theories in relation to patient facilitation.

Mike Stewart

Mike is a physiotherapist, researcher and university lecturer with over twenty years experience of helping people to overcome pain. Mike is a dedicated practice-based educator who is passionate about providing evidence-based education to a wide variety of health professionals. He has an MSc in Education and Physiotherapy and is planning a PhD focusing on how people in pain make sense of their experience. His published work has received international praise from the leading names in neuroscience. Mike teaches across a variety of clinical settings including elite sports, and is an advisor on pain management to the International Olympic Committee.
